The skeptic's first move is to say: obvious, fast people become gamers, not the other way around. Green and Bavelier saw it coming. Conclusion: the game speeds up the player, not fast players picking the game. Why action games, and not the rest?

Here is the catch that changes everything. It is not "playing" that trains the reflex, it is a very specific kind of demand. The games that produce the effect share three traits: they are fast, they are unpredictable, and they demand an immediate motor response. A shot comes from the left, a target pops up, an obstacle appears, and you have to answer before you had time to think.
